  • Are you a high roller? One of our favourite Playtechs

In this section we take a look at some of the world´s best land-based or “bricks and mortar” casinos for playing roulette.

Many of the very best land based casinos, like the Hippodrome in London, also have online roulette games.

Les Ambassadeurs Club in Mayfair

One of London´s most exclusive and distinguished gambling clubs, welcoming players since the early 19th Century.
Read our full Les Ambassadeurs Casino review.

Monaco

The obvious place to start, and what most people would think of as the spiritual home of roulette, is the Casino de Monte Carlo in Monaco. It´s roulette tables are famous and it´s been the scene of many a roulette legend, such as the Man Who Broke the Bank in Monte Carlo and the exploits of Joseph Jagger.

Las Vegas

Then of course, you have Las Vegas and the legendary casinos on the Strip and beyond. We’ll be taking a look at some of the more famous casinos on the strip (read our Bellagio review), like the Venetian Las Vegas (there´s also one in Macau), the Encore, the MGM, the Aria and plenty more. Does it get any better than Vegas? Well, it´s a hard place to beat, as long as you can find a European Roulette table in amongst all of those American wheels with 2 zero pockets. If you play roulette at the Luxor, for example, you´ll only find European Roulette in the high roller section. Stay clear of American tables if you can, unless they offer the Imprisonment Rule– the house edge is bigger. Craps is probably the spiritual game of Vegas- and there´s a huge choice of slots of course. But there are some fine roulette tables in this town.

Macau

They used to call this former Portuguese territory on the south coast of China the Vegas of the East, but that was before it overtook Las Vegas (in turnover at least). Macau has some huge gambling palaces, but the games of choice are baccarat and Sic Bo, we´d say. But roulette is growing in popularity all the time. There´s a Venetian here too, and the Grand Lisboa of course, which is where Stanley Ho started it all off. We played on the Galaxy Macau roulette tables and had a great time. They are also trying to become more of an entertainment town like Vegas- the Studio City Macau in particular has plenty of attractions other than the tables. It all seems a big step up from Lisbon’s Casino Estoril in Portugal, which was Stanley Ho’s inspiration for the town (the casino sits on Av. Stanley Ho in Estoril).

Malta

This Mediterranean island is actually an online gaming hub, but it does have a nice land-based casino called the Dragonara. And being an online gaming hub, there are sites which stream live roulette games direct from the casino in Malta. So when you get back from your holiday, you can still have a flutter on the tables! We expect to see more of these hybrid online/offline tables.

London

Mayfair and other parts of London have always been a huge draw for roulette players, particularly the high rollers. This city specialise in more exclusive clubs, such as Les Ambassadeurs and the Ritz Club Casino on Piccadilly. There are also options for the lower rollers at places like the Grosvenor G Casino in the West End. There are plenty of roulette legends that have been built in the Big Smoke. There´s the Mike Ashley Roulette bet (the Newcastle United owner) who won £1.3m on one roulette spin in a casino in Mayfair. Cool as a cucumber. And if you are in Leicester Square you should pop in to the Hippodrome London. Or you could head out to play roulette at Apers in Stratford– that´s about half an hour out of town.

Australia

Aussies are keen gamblers, so it should come as no surprise that there are plenty of top spots to play roulette in Australia like the Crown in Perth, with some plans for some new ones on the way, which should match all that Vegas, Macau and Singapore has to offer.

Canada

Canada is home to the Kahnawake territory- which is one of the most popular online casino jurisdications in the world. There is also plenty of Canadian roulette available at land-based casinos like the Casino de Montreal, for example.

New Zealand

We cover some of the places that are good for New Zealand roulette on our NZ page, and we´ll be building out some reviews on individual casinos right here in this section.
